WORK HOURS
How many hours did I work today?
Calculation notes
Net time = end − start − unpaid break. Hours are shown as minutes ÷ 60.
Uses the clock times you enter; time-zone and daylight-saving changes are not adjusted.
Optional. Uses total minutes and does not apply overtime or tax rules.
How it works
- Enter a shift’s start and end time, then enter any unpaid break.
- Mark “ends next day” for an overnight shift; add separate shifts if your day is split.
- Calculate to see net time in HH:MM and decimal hours.
Example
8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break is 8 hours: 08:00 in HH:MM, or 8.00 decimal hours.
Frequently asked questions
What does HH:MM mean?
It is hours and minutes: 7:45 means 7 hours and 45 minutes. Decimal hours use a fraction instead, so the same duration is 7.75 hours.
How do I enter a shift that crosses midnight?
Mark that the shift ends the next day. The calculator does not infer an overnight shift just because its end time is earlier than its start time.
Does the optional pay estimate include tax or overtime?
No. It multiplies net minutes divided by 60 by the hourly rate you enter. It is a base estimate before tax, overtime, holiday pay, or other pay rules.
